Application Process and Program

The process for being tutored begins with an initial meeting to determine a learner's needs. The intake assessment takes approximately 1½ hours and is conducted in our office at Mercy Bridges. There is no charge for tutoring, but we ask for $5 cash at the initial meeting as a registration fee.

Each learner is assigned a tutor based on his/her needs. We do have a waiting list and tutors are assigned based on the best match for the learner and the tutor. The learner and tutor meet for 2 hours each week for a year. Tutoring meetings are in a public place, for example, library, community room, or coffee shop.
